The Puerto Rico Film Commission was established as part of the public policy of the Government of Puerto Rico to promote the development of the film and audiovisual industry on the Island.
Its modern foundation was established through Act No. 121 of August 17, 2001, which created the Corporation for the Development of the Arts, Sciences, and Film Industry of Puerto Rico, an entity attached to the Department of Economic Development and Commerce.
Since then, the structure of incentives and support programs for the industry has evolved through various laws, including economic incentive legislation and, more recently, the Puerto Rico Incentives Code (Act 60 of 2019), which consolidated the programs for the creative industries.
The Puerto Rico Film Commission serves as the main point of contact for international and local productions interested in filming on the Island. Our role is to facilitate, promote, and support the growth of the film industry worldwide.
Our main functions include:
• Promoting Puerto Rico as a premier filming destination.
• Assisting local and international productions.
• Administering film tax credits and economic incentives.
• Facilitating permits and coordination with government agencies.
• Connecting productions with local crew, talent, and service providers.
• Supporting the development of local film projects.
• Representing Puerto Rico at international industry events and markets.
The Puerto Rico Film Commission operates under the Department of Economic Development and Commerce and is led by a team of professionals dedicated to supporting the film and audiovisual industry.
